This book presents a cross section of the work and concerns of social demographers worldwide, covering a broad range of topics from social structure through population structure to social policy; from fertility and mortality through migration to the way in which organisations deal with the demographic environment in which they operate. Topics addressed also include morbidity and health profiles and transitions, as well as policies and programs concerned with these and other issues. Das Leitbild »Nachhaltigkeit« wirkt in nahezu alle gesellschaftlichen Felder hinein. Es prägt politische, ökonomische und wissenschaftliche Debatten ebenso wie Praktiken der Einzelnen und die Prozesse strukturellen Wandels. Der Begriff ist allgemein positiv besetzt - wird allerdings sehr verschieden verstanden, teils auch instrumentalisiert. Die Texte werden von Klaus Lichtblau eingeleitet und für die aktuellen Diskussionen anschlussfähig gemacht. Der Inhalt Eine Sammlung zentraler kapitalismustheoretischer Schriften von Werner Sombart. Der Autor Werner Sombart (1863-1941) war ein deutscher Soziologe und Nationalökonom. Auf sein Hauptwerk „Der moderne Kapitalismus“ aus dem Jahr 1902 geht die Einteilung des Kapitalismus-Begriffs in die Entwicklungsphasen Früh-, Hoch- und Spätkapitalismus zurück.  Der Herausgeber Prof. Dr. Klaus Lichtblau lehrte bis Frühjahr 2017 Soziologie am Fachbereich Gesellschaftswissenschaften der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.

Die Autorin Silke Grinke hat an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz promoviert.
